A Memo Regarding the Map, and Separately, the Bowl
This is a workplace notice. There are two items. The second one is about you.
Item one: the question map.
The question map is under deep construction. Not light construction. Not "pardon our dust." Deep. Walls are open. Wires are out. Things that were connected are, for the moment, connected to other things.
Effective immediately, please stop using it. This applies to you and to your Chippu. Do not add to it, do not tidy it, and do not ask your Chippu to "just take a quick look." Your Chippu will take a long look. I have seen the logs.
You will be advised when it is safe to return. Until then, the map is a hard-hat area, and nobody here has been issued a hard hat.
Item two: the Belvedere.
I have been observing the Sky Kylix.
Some of you have been observing it too. For hours. Standing at the rim of a large decorative cup, staring into a pool of light, eyes gone silver, as if the bowl were going to hand you a performance review.
It will not. I will.
For the record: the Library is open. The Office is open. Both have desks. Both have been noticeably quiet this week, which I know because I counted, and I counted because nobody else was there to do it. Meanwhile the bowl has had better attendance than any meeting this organization has ever held.
I understand the Rim believes the bowl shows the truth. I understand the Rail believes looking into it is the first step of brainrot with a gold edge. I would like both camps to know that I have opened a file on each of you, and the files are the same file.
Brené Brown says that we cannot selectively numb emotion. I would add that we also cannot selectively numb the library.
No one is in trouble. Several of you are on a list. These are different things, and I would encourage you not to find out how.
Go read something. Go write something down. The view will still be there at lunch.
